THE ESSENCE OF HARD COPY DICTIONARIES
In Ghana’s current educational landscape, the use of hard copy dictionaries, especially in second-cycle institutions, has drastically declined. This was not the case just a few years ago. But what are the implications of this shift on learners’ literacy development?
First, the decline has affected learners' scanning skills. Without the regular use of physical dictionaries, many students struggle to master scanning, a skill that is essential for reading comprehension. With electronic dictionaries, there is no need to scan; you just type the word, and the meaning appears instantly.
Secondly, learners are missing out on incidental vocabulary acquisition. While flipping through hard copy dictionaries, students often stumble upon new words. That kind of passive exposure is rare with the digital versions.
In addition, the once-common habit of building a personal word bank is slowly fading. Sure, students can Google a word’s meaning anytime, which is convenient, but it also means fewer are keeping a personal record of new vocabulary they encounter while reading. ✍
My Suggestion:
Let us encourage a hybrid approach of using both hard copy and digital dictionaries in our classrooms. This could enhance vocabulary development, spelling, scanning skills, and overall reading comprehension.
What’s your take on the use of hard copy dictionaries in schools today?
Should we encourage their usage alongside the digital ones?
Can you think of any other benefits of using hard copy dictionaries?📘 THE ESSENCE OF HARD COPY DICTIONARIES 📘 In Ghana’s current educational landscape, the use of hard copy dictionaries, especially in second-cycle institutions, has drastically declined. 📉 This was not the case just a few years ago. *Hi black children,*
Train to be fast, train to be strong, be wise, get educated and have skills, but recognize that it's not only that that makes one successful. You will also need to meet the right people and at the right time. And sometimes you will get your opportunities from the most unlikely places ever. Don't look down on anything or anyone. Be open to learning. Sometimes our breakthroughs may come from our least expected source.
“I returned and saw something under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all." - Ecclesiastes 9 v11:
Have an awesome week! And may God cause his face to shine upon us 🙏🏽.

There was a time when messages were just messages—no blue ticks, no last seen, no overthinking. Life was simpler, and conversations felt more real.
Now, with constant online presence, we often overthink: "Did they read my message? Why haven’t they replied?" But back then, we sent a message and moved on, without unnecessary stress.

Some people are spreading misinformation about Pi Network because they couldn't mine pi at its earliest stage and now they have put it in their task to spread FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt)

A Norwegian man has filed a complaint after ChatGPT falsely told him he had killed two of his sons and been jailed for 21 years.
Arve Hjalmar Holmen has contacted the Norwegian Data Protection Authority and demanded the chatbot's maker, OpenAI, is fined.
It is the latest example of so-called "hallucinations", where artificial intelligence (AI) systems invent information and present it as fact.
Mr Holmen says this particular hallucination is very damaging to him.
"Some think that there is no smoke without fire - the fact that someone could read this output and believe it is true is what scares me the most," he said.

Whatever happens, survive.
Don't die before you die.
Do not lose yourself, do not lose hope, do not lose direction. Survive yourself, every cell of your body, every fiber of your skin.
Live, Learn, Study, Think, Read, Create, Invent, Be Creative, Speak, Write, Dream, Design.
Live within, live outside, fill yourself with colors of the world, fill yourself with peace, fill yourself with hope.
Live happily.
There is only one thing in life that you should not waste,

Skywatchers across the world will witness the first total lunar eclipse in three years. Here’s who will have the best views—and what gives the moon its eerie red tint.
For the first time since 2022, skywatchers across North America will see the full moon slip into Earth’s shadow, transforming into a deep reddish hue. The event begins after midnight on March 14 in the eastern U.S. and Canada, while those in the western half of the continent will see it unfold before midnight on March 13. A LETTER TO ALL MY BROTHERS HUSTLING
There’s a pain only men understand, the pain of trying everything, hustling, sacrificing, grinding, yet nothing seems to work. You wake up every morning with hope, but by night, frustration sets in. No one sees what you’re going through or how you’re holding it together. As a man, you’re expected to figure it out, no matter how hard it gets.
You look around, some of your mates are doing well, but for you, life feels like slow motion. Bills are piling up, your family is counting on you, and deep down, you’re exhausted. The worst part? You can’t even complain. The moment a man speaks about his struggles, people call it excuses or laziness.
Many men are fighting silent battles. They smile in public but drown in frustration at night. Some even contemplate giving up, but bro, that’s not an option.
The truth is, life isn’t fair to men who don’t succeed. If you fail, you become invisible, no one cares.
But that’s exactly why you can’t quit. If you give up, you betray all the days you’ve already fought through. Keep pushing, your time will come, and your struggles will one day turn into your victory.
THE PAIN OF STRUGGLING IS HARD, BUT THE PAIN OF GIVING UP IS WORSE.
KEEP THE HUSTLE ALIVE
I’M ROOTING FOR YOU
