As the days turned into weeks, the journey of healing my middle finger brought unexpected challenges. One evening, while attending church, the pianist was absent, and I was called upon to fill in. Playing the piano that night was one of the most excruciating experiences of my life. Every press of a key sent sharp pain through my injured finger, but I pushed through, knowing the service depended on me. It felt like an uphill battle, yet my passion for music gave me the strength to endure.
As a guitarist, however, I knew I had to be patient. The intricacies of strumming and fretting required full mobility, and it was clear I wasn’t ready. My choir coordinator noticed my struggle and generously gave me a balm to ease the pain. Along with other treatments and a carefully wrapped bandage on my hand, I began to see signs of improvement. Though it was a slow and sometimes frustrating process, each small step forward gave me hope.
Before the healing process was complete, countless thoughts plagued my mind. Would I ever be able to use my finger to play instruments again? The uncertainty weighed heavily on me, and there were moments when tears streamed down my face as I wrestled with the fear of losing my ability to express myself through music. Looking back, I’m amazed at how quickly recovery came, considering the severity of the injury.
